In 1985 I
left the North Sea to train as a teacher and began teaching
Geography in 1986. Since 1990 I have been teaching French and
German. For many years I have also been involved in exchanges
and twinnings between Gremany, France and Scotland. My home
town of Linlithgow and its palace (birthplace of Mary Queen
of Scots) is a beautiful place to visit, lying only 30
kilometres from Edinburgh. It is twinned with the French town
of Guyancourt, near Versailles. Scotland and France have
cultural, commercial and political links going back well over
700 years (including Bordeaux wine imports to the port of
Leith in Edinburgh).
Linlithgow is also famous for being the birthplace (in 200
years time) of Chief Engineer Scott from the TV series "Star
Trek"!
We are associated with the Pride and Passion Community
Challenge being one of the first towns chosen for this
accolade in Scotland. We were recently awarded Cittaslow
status.
